Wednesday Oct 18:    Leaside Luncheon 12:15 pm in the Glebe Parlour Please Note: Change of speaker: Chris Rockingham will present on his experiences as a geologist "A Random Tour of a Mineral Exploration Career". Katherine Allen & Gladys Stover will present on their 2008 Eastern European trip on January 17, 2018. Please bring a bagged lunch. Dessert and beverages will be provided. Everyone welcome.


Thursday, Oct 26: Medfit Open House 9:30 am in the Glebe Parlour Interested in what the Medfit classes are all about? Join us for an OPENHOUSE on Oct 26.  A short presentation, demonstration, and refreshments!


Sunday, Oct 29: Reformation/Anniversary Sunday 2017 marks 500 years since the Reformation. October 31, 1517, was the day that a German monk called Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses (discussion topics) to the door of the church in Wittenberg, northern Germany. From this point, many dramatic events were to follow, which transformed the church across Europe.Our worship will mark the occasion through prayer and hymns, scripture and sermon. Worship will be followed by our annual Anniversary luncheon. Anyone interested in helping with the luncheon, please speak to Rev. Angela.


Wednesday, Nov 1:  Avgen gift card orders are due. A percentage of your gift card purchase will go into Leaside’s fundraising revenue account. Order forms are available outside the church office.  Please email or phone your orders to the church office by no later than 2 pm on the order dates.

Saturday, November 4 from 10:00 to 2:00: MERRY MARKET

Avoid the malls and shop local at Leaside Presbyterian Church on Saturday November 4th, 2017 from 10am – 2pm for our Christmas Bazaar.
The Merry Market features a bake and craft sale, silent auction, accessories room, family photo booth, and vendor market. Free entrance and parking at 670 Eglinton Ave East. For more information, contact Mary Kopman at 416-485-2443 or PLEASE NOTE that our vendor tables are now FULL.



Sunday, November 5: Remembrance Sunday Guest trumpeter: Dave Dunlop We remember those who gave their lives, and in a time of international instability, we consider the impact of war.

As a church we reach out and welcome children from the community to foster friendships, to share the love of Jesus, and to have a good time!

Adult and youth helpers are greatly appreciated. Please speak to Rev. Angela or call the church office to register or to volunteer.  



Other Announcements:


PRESBYTERIANS SHARING: Teddies when available ($10/each), lap blankets ($25/each), hat & scarf sets ($15/set), scarves ($10 each), child’s hat & mitt set ($12/set), adult mitts ($8/pair), flannel mitts ($2/pair) and knit bed socks ($3/pair), are available, as well as money canisters for collecting your loose change for credit towards your offering donations. (Please be sure to put your name on your canister so we know who to credit.) Proceeds will go towards our 2017 Presbyterians Sharing allocation of $26,000. 



The 70th Anniversary Edition of Leaside’s cookbook is available for purchase in the Parlour.  PRICE IS NOW: $10 each or 3 for $25.



TRANSPORTATION TO CHURCH: We have set up an account with Beck Taxi. Taxi vouchers are available for those in need of a ride to church. Please contact Naomi in the church office, 416-422-0510.




Evangel Hall: We are collecting non-perishable food, mugs, spoons and Canadian Tire Money for Evangel Hall on an ongoing basis. Boxes for food & mug donations are in the Narthex and outside the church office; boxes for Canadian Tire money and spoons are on the square table in the hallway. Donations are taken to the Hall on dinner/worship Sundays throughout the year.




Do you enjoy meeting and greeting? We would love to have you join our roster of volunteers to serve as ushers for the Sunday worship services. If you are interested, please speak to one of the ministers or call the church office.




Have you been blessed with the gift of hospitality? Please share your gift with the congregation, by joining Leaside’s Coffee Team roster. Call Naomi in the church office.




Bethel Worship Centre: Community services continue on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.  This is a simple time of worship where all are welcome for spiritual refreshment and fellowship. The attractive and very accessible space at Bethel at 645 Millwood Rd., just a block west of Bayview, is 'senior-friendly' with good potential to serve the neighbourhood and our new congregation in helpful ways over the months to come.




AVGEN Fundraiser:

You can purchase your regular groceries, etc., and gas using gift cards for your favourite grocery store, pharmacy or gas station, and help the church raise funds at the same time! Simply order your gift cards through our Avgen Fundraising program then take the cards with you when you do your shopping. You can also buy a variety of retail cards to give away as gifts. Orders for gift cards will be sent to Avgen thefirst Wednesday of every month. Please have your orders to the church office by no later than 2:00 p.m. on the order day. Please make cheques payable to LEASIDE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Payment plans can be arranged if you are not able to pre-pay. Please call the church office to learn more.

Flowers in the Sanctuary:

If you would like to place flowers in the sanctuary in memory of a loved one, please follow these three simple steps:

  • sign your name on the flower calendar for the appropriate date on the bulletin board outside the office,

  • provide the church office with the information you would like in the bulletin by the Wednesday before and

  • purchase the flowers, and bring them Sunday morning or arrange for delivery before 2 p.m. on the preceding Friday.

Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) Cards are available in the Narthex and outside the church office for PAR participants to use during the offering. Also, PAR information pamphlets can be found in the Narthex and outside the church office in the hanging container on the wall, for anyone interested in signing up, or, for more information about the program please call the church office.
