Missions

Presbyterians Sharing

Presbyterians Sharing is the fund that supports the national programs and ministries of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. It makes possible our existence as a church denomination in Canada, and enables us to do mission and ministry in Canada and across the world. Congregational support for Presbyterians Sharing is based on suggested allocations (fair-share guidelines) according to each congregation’s ability, and congregations send in their gifts on a monthly or quarterly basis.

PWS&D

Presbyterian World Service and Development (PWS&D) is the relief arm of our denomination, through which global development and emergency relief are funded. This includes work in overseas development, emergency situations, and refugee sponsorship. PWS&D raises its own funds directly from individuals and congregations and through matching government grants. Inspired by God’s promise of abundant life, Presbyterian World Service & Development envisions a sustainable, compassionate and just world.

Evangel Hall Mission

Evangel Hall Logo

Evangel Hall Mission is an inner-city mission whose purpose is to build community with poor, homeless and socially isolated people in Toronto through support, housing, services and advocacy. Evangel Hall Mission serves up to 200 people a day in the adult drop-in program, and provides 250 nutritious meals, free clothing, showers, laundry facilities and financial trust services to socially and economically disadvantaged persons. Evangel Hall Mission also provides housing for 110 people previously homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

At Leaside, we prepare and serve meals at Evangel Hall Mission on various occasions throughout the year, on a rotating basis with other Toronto churches. When we serve meals, we also lead a small worship service afterwards and invite the staff and clients to attend. We also collect non-perishable food, mugs, spoons and Canadian Tire Money for Evangel Hall on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
